Hi guys, a new and very happy owner of an MT07. Great bike in all respects, with the exception of the location of the horn. How is it possible to most things right yet to get something so basic wrong?! You need either huge hands the size of an American baseball glove or Inspector Gadget extendable fingers to reach the bloody thing.
Anyway, two very useful threads I found on this forum:
https://www.motorcycle-talk.net/forum/mt-07-fz-07-modifications/1255-horn-button-mod.html
and
https://www.motorcycle-talk.net/forum/mt-07-fz-07-modifications/1419-discussion-horn-button-mod-thread-weekend.html
Can I just double check that all I need is the left side switchgear from a Yamaha YZF-R125 and I'm good to go?
How much time will I need to set aside to do this mod?
EDIT: another suggestion I found was to open up the standard switch gear and then swap the light flash switch wires with the horn. Apparently it is a simple solder job and then the flash lever / button becomes the horn for quick access. Not sure what you guys make of this one?
As shown on an MT09 here:
Awkward horn button placement solution for almost no $.
Not sure how it is on the MT07, but on the MT09 folks have used Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Honda CRF250L switchgear as well apparently.
Thanks (go easy on me haha!)
JG
