IMHO I think you did great considering you're not an engineer with access to CAD and all the manufacturing bells and whistles that the aftermarket does. I bet it's as strong or stronger than 99% of the commercial racks out there. To me there is more pride in making something yourself.

Here in the US filtering is legal. The individual states pass laws on whether it's allowed or not. I live in Georgia and unfortunately it isn't legal here though people routinely start petitions to legalize it. I have filtered at times but I've noticed one thing here. Some cagers really hate it...

I could understand wrapping if it were an area you were prone to touch. Sure it looks nice and personalizes your bike. Just accept the fact that you may be reducing life expectancy of the header by having wrapped it. As long as you're happy with the look and accept any risks then rock on my friend.

I discourage anyone from wrapping headers on their bikes. It might look nice and all. On some bikes it looks great. Reduces the life of the header though.

Why FZ? Being from the US I'll take a stab at it. It may have something to do with copyright or trademark. I think the most likely reason is because the American bikes are different therefore needing the FZ to separate it from the MT. US models don't have ABS and are not restricted in any way...
