Looks like you got all the screws. The bottom part is then held on by 3 rubber pop in things (don't know what they are called)
I just pulled the bottom side and the bottom popped out then I could unxlip the top side.

Cleaning - the worst part of biking.
For all the niggly little bits you need a motorbike brush set. Dirt cheap off ebay, like big pipe cleaner it gets into all the nooks and crannies. Also bends to the shape you need.

Oh well my techie side enjoyed doing the mods and it worked without cutting into any existing wiring so my hands were toasty warm this morning.

I had originally thought of doing that. However I did not do this for two reasons.
1. Full load on the grips is 4A. The existing fuses could blow under some circumstances if you have the grips at 100% and the rxisting fused circuit is highly loaded.
2. Accessing the existing wiring is tricky...
I bought a set of oxford hot grips for the MT and have seen alot of people wiring them (and other makes) straight to the battery. The oxford premium grips do have a battery save function where they switch off if the battery voltage goes low or the detect no "noise" on the electrical supply...
I think that looks good if I'm doing more dirt tracks I might consider a few mods.
Wouldn't take much to prep it for light offroad without ruining its on road ability

The motocage is purely a visual difference if you like the look go for it, if not go for base model.
There are parts of the motocage I like and some I don't but its purely a personal preference, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that.
As for the MT09, not tried one. I had the option...
I've had the ABS cut in once but it was my fault during an emergency braking when a car pulled out. I pulled too quickly. Other than that it's never cut in (the back has cut in once or twice but that was when i first got the bike)
Could it be you weren't progressive with the braking not...
