In case it's of interest here's some photographs of panniers fitted on the bike.
The panniers come with waterproof liners as they are specified as shower proof, although mine did manage 20 miles in a deluge and stayed dry inside.
Very simple to fit on the bike but you do need the pannier rails.
I took the bike in for the first service today and asked the mechanic this question.
And yes, the Valve Regulated Lead Acid battery fitted to the MT-07 can be charged by a bog standard, common or garden Optimate battery charger.
The Optimate is a trickle charger for motorcycle batteries so probably OK but I'm going to the dealer next Tuesday for my 600 mile service so I'll ask when I'm there.
So, according to my owner's manual the battery is a Valve Regulated Lead Acid type and a special, constant voltage, battery charger is required.
So does this mean I can no longer use my trusty Optimate for charging ?
And if so, where does one get one of these new fangled chargers from and...
My dealer told me to ride it like you would a secondhand bike, do not mollycoddle it as you need to get rid of the sharp edges (dealers terminology) in the engine and gearbox.
He said if you run it in gently this will not be achieved and the 600 mile oil change will be a waste of time.
Take it...
