I discourage anyone from wrapping headers on their bikes. It might look nice and all. On some bikes it looks great. Reduces the life of the header though.

Motorcycle headers help to dissipate heat from the cylinder head. Wrapping will shield them from the wind and inhibit this, causing the cylinder heads to run hotter. Wrapping is used mainly in car engine bays to the reduce the radiant heat from the exhaust system adversely affecting nearby under-bonnet components.

I just give them a wipe over to remove the worst of the crud, last ones I polished
were the stainless ones on a BMW looked great but after a short ride were back
to the same colour but it was not as even so looked worse, never polished stainless
ones since, the chrome ones on my Morini now 40 years old are still in good condition
but they like many bikes then are double skinned so the chrome is not effected by heat.

I dont ride on salted roads here in Australia.

Mine still look very much the same after 8000km.
Pitting is there, but it is much easier to clean now :)
