MT-07 Exhaust Sound & Essential Mods

Hi,
Anyone has unmounted photos of the full system Yoshimura exhaust?

Does it has 3pieces when you open the box?

I will carry the exhaust with me by the airplane so i wonder the dimensions of the exhaust and the box.

Thanks
sounds great, but what about the sound? to loud? prefer not to be stopped by the police everytime i go to work since the max limit in sweden is 103db at specifit rews.
Here are videos of the Yoshimura. I don't know if it's street legal in SWE though.

thx but problem is that a video dont say much about the volume of the exhausts. best would be to measure the decibel value, but i guess ppl dont have those stuffs at home :)

dB levels would be problematic anyway. Almost every enforcement measures it in a different way so exactly the same bike will give different values. Distance from exhaust, orientation of microphone and position, RPM/s measured at, surrounds, type of microphone, temperature, air pressure, sound spectrum measured etc.

Replaceable

Hi,

Without reading all 75 pages of this thread (sorry) am I right in thinking that if removed correctly, it is possible to replace the baffle in the akrapovic (if it's too loud)?

I really want to avoid buying a new one or damaging the main body of the exhaust if I remove it and decide that it is too loud. Also, if this is the case, is it possible to remove in this way without taking the whole exhaust off?

There is a way to modify it so that its easier to remove and re-insert. Not sure how doable this is without the right equipment, but here's a link:

yes ofc but i know that here in sweden they measure the db levels at a certain distance like 100cm from the exhaust at 45 degre angle and ex 4000rpm (rpm depends on the engine) which means that the db values should be about the same.
i guess a db value is a bit to much to ask for. but worth a try :)

i will much likley buy either akra carbon or yoshi and we´ll se what happens if they dont like my sound :)

Today I have my Yoshimura exhaust installed. The sound and the look are exactly as I expected... even better.

However I just realized that the exhaust is totally unprotected in case of a side crash. And it's carbon surface is probably not fixable then.

This is non-obvious advantage of Akrapovic or Leo Vinci over other brands. Now I have to consider adding R&G exhaust protector (Exhaust Protector (Yoshimura R-77) - EP0011BK), which will spoil the look a bit, but would give me some peace of mind. Ironically it costs 10% of Yoshi exhaust - similar to insurance ))

Hope this additional criteria will help others in decision-making about the exhaustR&G_YoshiR77.jpg.

how much did you pay with shipping included?
Shipping is the least of your "problems" and costs. The thing is that you will most likely have to pay custom taxes or VAT and that is whole different price range than you would have thought from the beginning.

Just as an update I've had a positive experience with the SC Project system. It was delivered within 2 weeks of order from the factory, it fitted straight on and has a deep note with slight rasp as you blip the throttle. The dB killer comes out by hand after undoing one allen bolt and with the Euro exchange rate it cost £480 all in. The bike turns heads now rather than sounding like a milk float! I haven't even bothered riding it with the dB killer removed as its loud enough right now and my insurance covers EU stamped exhausts. Happy days.

The sun tempted me out for a ride after a few months hiding from winter. This was followed by the feeble exhaust note inspiring me to just press the buy button on the SC Project website. The GBP-Euro exchange rate is pretty good right now so be rude not to really!

Stock mod

Hey guys

I have been reading the forum for a long time and still not sure which exhaust to take...
Then i found this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4-AQ0VD_Oc

This is what he did:
http://www.motorcycle-talk.net/forum/mt-07-fz-07-modifications/871-stock-exhaust-mod-deep-rumble.html?highlight=stock+exhaust
Did anyone do this or did some 'research' about if this could cause any problems? Sound good imo and the exhaust already looks good anyways.

By the way, if someone has a white mt-07 with mivv oval exhaust (carbon / titanium), could u upload some pictures??
I'm thinking of taking that one but havent seen it on the white version yet.
Thanks!!

Stock exhaust mod

Hey guys

Has one of u tried modifying the stock exhaust to make a better sound? I've seen a video of someone who drilled holes in it and was wondering
what the concequences might be. sounds quite good!

Last reply got removed for some reason, is this question a violation of forum rules maybe or?

Doesn't sound like a good idea to mod what ¥1000s went into designing to work with the engine.

I don't have an issue with the noise of the standard pipe, kind of operating in stealth mode.;)

There's plenty of videos with Akrapovic Titanium exhaust, but I decided to make my own dB killer in/out comparison vid.
dB killer has been modified (inner pipes cut-off midway) results are easier replacement and increased sound overall. It takes couple of minutes to remove, or fit in the dBk. Most of the time I use the bike without it, on longer trips I will put it on.
Enjoy it. :)

Thanks da1kini!
I made the vid after cleaning the bike, it seems I do not plugged properly the end of the exhaust.
A few drops of water might have gotten into because it evaporated quickly.
